Office of Advancement

Oakland City University is alive and vibrant because we stand with our 11,000 alumni and thousands of friends like you who believe in our mission.

Now, our focus becomes revisiting the strategic plan and laying a fresh vision that will guide us into the year 2020. We invite you to join us in this incredible opportunity to train the next generation of Christian leaders. Your participation in the ongoing ministry of OCU will be critical to our continued success. The Office of Advancement seeks to meet the financial needs of Oakland City University through the faithful and sacrificial support of its generous donors.  We hope that you can see the vision of Oakland City University and give in support of its mission.

Thank you for standing with us as we strive to become a leading faith-based University that is preparing students for a life of Christian service.

Tax Credit for Indiana Residents

The State of Indiana will give individuals, through a tax credit, 50¢ on each dollar given to Oakland City University, not to exceed $200. This means that a $400 gift to OCU yields a $200 tax credit; a $200 gift yields a $100 credit; a $100 gift yields a $50 credit, and so on. In other words, you will be reimbursed half your gift by the state of Indiana up to $200 if filing jointly and up to $100 if filing single. The tax credit is applied directly against the “bottom line” of your state tax return, either reducing the amount of taxes owed or providing a refund on taxes paid.

Additionally, the corporation’s credit is equal to 50 percent of the total amount given during the tax year. However, the credit may not exceed the lesser of: a) 10 percent of the corporation’s adjusted gross income tax liability, or b) $1,000.

To take advantage of this opportunity, you must use the Indiana Department of Revenue Schedule CC-40 when filing your state income tax return. After clicking on the link, you will need to go to the last section on the page under “Other Individual Forms/Schedules” and choose the first option: CC-40 Indiana College Credit.  As we always advise, please consult a tax professional as to your personal circumstances.

OAK-A-THON

This year, Oakland City University celebrates the 33rd anniversary of OAK-A-THON, formerly known as Phonathon. The reason for the name change is quite simple: times are changing as to how we communicate in this technological driven society. Through various mediums, we appreciate all of our donors who continue advancing OCU’s mission of Christian higher education.

OAK-A-THON will begin on April 1st and end on April 17th with three major components:

  1. Give – Online www.ocuadvancement.com; Text any amount to 812-359-1440; Phone by either calling 812-749-1228 or waiting until a friendly student caller reaches you; Mail pledges to:
    Office of Advancement
    Oakland City University
    138 N. Lucretia St.
    Oakland City, IN 47660

All pledges and gifts received before April 1st will be removed from the phone calling list.
  2. Volunteer - OCU welcomes callers during our weekday call nights from 6 – 8:30 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST). In addition, we will be hosting the first annual OCU Community Cleanup Day on Saturday, April 13th at 9 a.m. (CST). Please call 812-749- 1228 to RSVP for either or both of these volunteer efforts.
  3. Pray – Send prayer requests and praise reports to Oakland City University. Pray for OCU students.

We invite you to be part of OAK-A-THON and see just how much OCU still cares for you.

President's Golf Classic

We cordially invite your organization, business, or foursome to join us on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at the beautiful Cambridge Golf Club for an afternoon of food, fellowship, and golf. Cambridge features a Tim Liddy designed championship 18-hole course etched into 170 acres of gently rolling Indiana farm land.
Conveniently located at 1034 Beacon Hill, Evansville, IN, the course is easily accessible off highways I-64 and 41.

Oakland City University, founded in 1885, has steadily served Gibson County, Southwest Indiana, and the tri-state region through its academic programs and economic stimulus. Our graduates are serving in vital roles as business entrepreneurs, state and national leaders, superintendents and teachers, and pastors and missionaries around the world. At the regional level (Gibson and surrounding counties), OCU generated $51.3 million to the area. The impact of the University on the local economy of Gibson County was $35.6 million, most of which was created directly by Oakland City University.

Please take time to review this brochure and join us for the day. Meet members of the Oakland City University's Board of Trustees and Administration. Take this opportunity to become acquainted with faculty, staff members, and students. Come and join us for a great afternoon of food, fellowship, and great golf!

Join us, once again, at Cambridge Golf Course for lunch, gifts, a relaxing day of golf, fellowship, and dinner as we once again ask for your support of Oakland City University and its students.

The Oakland City University "President's Golf Classic" has quickly become one of the most successful events in the tri -state, generating over $234,000.00 the first six years of the "gathering." These funds have benefited numerous Oakland City University students in the areas of education, business, pre-law, Christian studies, pre-med, and law enforcement. Without the "President's Golf Classic''. the funding for these scholarships would not have been possible.

President's Classic Agenda Best Ball Scramble

Best Ball Scramble - Each team consists of four players. On every hole, each team member drives and the best drive is selected. Each team member then plays a second shot from the spot where the selected drive lays, and the best second shot is selected. This process is repeated until the hole is completed.
