Dr. Sarah Wilson, associate professor of chemistry, has been selected as a 2021 PALSave Course Redesign Grant recipient by the Private Academic Library Network of Indiana, Inc. (PALNI). PALNI is a non-profit library-to-library collaboration comprised of 24 private, academic libraries. PALSave, financed with support from Lilly Endowment, Inc., provides collaborative resources and a framework for open educational resource (OER) awareness, education, and engagement. In addition, PALSave funds and supports faculty adoption of affordable learning materials to enhance the teaching and learning of private higher education in Indiana. Dr. Wilson has committed to selecting open educational resources for her General Chemistry course, including a free, open-access textbook, since the availability of OERs have been demonstrated to play a vital role in student success and retention. Dr. Wilson stated, “I appreciated the teaching and learning community PALNI fostered, along with the thorough training. My eyes were opened to far more open-access learning materials than I had realized were available.”
