EDUC-650 Advanced Reading & Language Arts

The course will consider the role of language arts in elementary education, in terms of methodology, materials, theory, and practical applications in order to help the students become a facilitator and conveyor of knowledge and cultural heritage through language.  Elements of teaching and learning reading, literature, spelling, grammar and handwriting will be explored. Candidates are required to demonstrate proficiency in teaching areas of language arts in addition to incorporating and strengthening formal and informal assessment strategies in order to foster active engagement during learning.  Prerequisite EDUC 572. (Key Assessment Course).  Prerequisite:  None
