OCU School of Education Launches Partnership with the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET)
In collaboration with the School of Education faculty at Marian University, several OCU School of Education faculty members will be participating in the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET) three day training on August 5th-7th. Many of the OCU SOE faculty members will be trained on NIET’s national model of teacher effectiveness, rubrics for continuous professional educator effectiveness, planning models, and assessment practices.
We will begin to incorporate these new research based teaching practices into courses starting in the Fall of 2019. We will also begin to train the supervising teachers in this model as they work side by side with our student teachers in the field. This new work for the OCU School of Education will begin to transform how we train and better prepare teachers and school leaders for the current world of work. We will be sharing about our partnership with the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching and our efforts to ramp up teacher candidate quality for the Tri-State area.
