Academic Year Program for Low-Income and First Generation Students
Successful Upward Bound students regularly attend weekly tutoring and Saturday sessions.
WEEKLY TUTORING
Throughout the school year, Oakland City University Upward Bound offers free weekly tutoring services at these Indiana high schools:
- Crawford County
- Forest Park
- Heritage Hills
- Perry Central
- Pike Central
- South Spencer
- Tecumseh
- Wood Memorial
Tutoring is offered in a variety of subjects, including math, science, history, geography, foreign languages, and others.
Each weekly tutoring session lasts 30 minutes and is held immediately after the school day ends. Tutoring does not interfere with the regular school day schedule.
SATURDAY SESSIONS
Once a month, Upward Bound holds a Saturday session at Oakland City University. Students are educated in several areas for high school success and college preparation, including these and others:
- Financial aid advising
- Scholarship information
- Social and communication skills
- Study skills
- Time management
- ACT/SAT information
- Study skills
