Areas of Study
Areas of study at Oakland City University include the School of Adult and Extended Learning, the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, the School of Education, and Chapman Seminary.
Adult and Extended Learning
The School of Adult and Extended Learning offers degree programs with accelerated and online formats, scheduled in such a way that adult students can keep their personal and professional commitments. This unique curriculum allows for degree completion in 18 months or less at a cost competitive with other colleges and universities.
School of Arts and Sciences
Courses in the School of Arts and Sciences help students understand themselves and their environment, perceive relationships among many kinds of knowledge, and achieve proficiency in one or more concentrated areas of study relating to a career choice.
School of Business
Students in the School of Business gain valuable knowledge and practical skills that help equip them for graduate school or a variety of career fields and endeavors. For example, many graduates become tax accountants, bankers, teachers, market researchers, professional consultants, or managers or administrators in various fields.
School of Education
The School of Education is a strong teacher education institution, providing many of the teachers for schools in the surrounding area. The teacher education program is approved by the Indiana Department of Education: Division of Professional Standards (DPS), and the School of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
Chapman Seminary and School of Religious Studies
The professional emphasis of the religious studies program of Chapman Seminary prepares many students to enter a ministry vocation, denominational service, the mission field, or Christian education. Oakland City University is accredited by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges, and Chapman Seminary is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS).
