Schumacher Sets Rebounding Record as Oaks Win AgainApril 13, 2010 at 4:35 PM
Nashville, TN - The Oakland City Men's Basketball team traveled to face the Flames of Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tennessee, on Tuesday, January 19. The Mighty Oaks came out victorious 94-53 behind Nate Schumacher's 18 points and a school record 33 rebounds.
The Mighty Oaks opened the game with a 17-0 scoring run and never looked back, pushing the lead to as many as twenty-seven points before the Flames were able come back somewhat to cut the lead to twenty-three at the half at 44-21.
The second half saw Oakland City open with a scoring run much like the first half, scoring the first twenty-one points of the half to open up a 44 point lead. The Flames were able to slow down the Oaks, but never were able to get the lead under 36 the rest of the game as the Mighty Oaks prevailed in their fifth straight game, winning 94-53.
The Mighty Oaks were led in scoring by Brandon Hopf with 21 points followed by Nate Schumacher with 18 points and a NCAA D-II leading 33 rebounds. Jared Maners scored 17 on 6-7 shooting from the field. Josh Maggard added 14 points while dishing out a game high 8 assists and 3 steals. The Flames were led in scoring by Bradley Elkins with 19 points.
The Oaks return to action Saturday, January 23, in the Johnson Center as the take on Temple Baptist. The game will tip at 3:00 pm.
