President Hosts Senior Round-Up Cookout / Music Department Hosts Spring ConcertMay 11, 2011 at 9:46 AM
On April 28th, the second annual President’s Senior Round-Up Cookout was hosted on Lucretia Street. While the weather had been somewhat iffy, just as the blessing on the meal was being said, the high winds caught the side of the 30’ x 45’ tent and ripped the frame from the anchors and collapsed on one side. There were a few anxious moments as those in the tent lifted the side that had fallen in order to get the injured out and dodged flying plates, napkins and food. The 90+ guests retreated to the Murray Center while food was salvaged and taken to the Dining Hall. While it was a rocky start, there was a rainbow afterward and hats off to Dr. Barber, Dr. Yeager, Brian Baker, Pat Reiter and volunteers for making sure of everyone’s safety and a very enjoyable event. Prizes were given away to graduates and a best western costume and talent contest followed in the Oaks area of the SLC.
Following the Senior Round-Up, the University music department had their Spring Concert. It was an exciting hour filled with beautiful music from very talented students to an overflow crowd in Barnard Recital Hall. Kudos to Cynthia Retana, Carolyn Spitler and all the music students for a delightful performance.
