OCU Goes on 2012 Honduras Mission Trip

June 5, 2012 at 8:26 AM

May 19-26, 2012, fourteen (14) students and two (2) Oakland City University staff members accompanied Dr. Jim Pratt, Director of Campus Life, on a week-long mission trip to the Faith Home Orphanage in Honduras.  Two students stayed for a second week.  Each of the team members were greatly impacted by the trip.

The team participated in such activities as painting, sealing two bridges, assisting at the grade school, organizing supply rooms, and cleaning a missionary cottage and the Bible Institute at Faith Home.  In addition, thirteen (13) of the team members visited a government orphanage to minister to children with special needs.  Also, the team distributed beans and rice at a local village church after having a worship service.  Two Honduran people became Christians during the worship service.

Each team member shared their desire to be more appreciative of all that we have in the United States.  At least five (5) of the students that were a part of the mission trip shared that they believe that their future includes being involved in International Missions as a vocation.

The team represented Oakland City University and the cause of Christ extremely well. Plans are being made for a return trip to Honduras May 2013.
