OCU Earns Berth in CCIT Championship Game with Win Over Rhema Bible CollegeMarch 13, 2012 at 10:50 PM
The Mighty Oaks stretched a 34-33 halftime lead into an 89-71 win in the semi-finals of the Christian College Invitational Tournament against Rhema Bible College on Tuesday night in the Johnson Center.
Oakland City was led in scoring by Mitch Stahl, who scored 25 points on the night thanks to 7-9 shooting from the floor and 11-12 scores from the foul line. Maurice Fuller added 16 points while Eric Head joined in with 14. Cameron LeFear put 12 points onto the OCU side of the ledger, followed by 11 points by Brandon Morton. Morton tallied a double double by grabbing a game high 13 missed shots, while LeFear handed out a season high nine assists and picked up three steals.
The Eagles of Rhema Bible College were led by Marc Gustin's 21 points, followed by 11 points each from Brody Christian and Miracle Keni-Satele, who also grabbed a team high eight rebounds.
For the game, OCU shot 27-52 (51.9%) from the field, including 17-24 (70.8%) in the second half. The Oaks made 9-23 (39.1%) from beyond the three point arc, while hitting 26-31 (83.9%) from the foul line. Meanwhile, the Eagles shot 29-66 (43.9%) from the floor, including 4-17 (23.5%) from three point range. RBC made 9-16 (56.3%) from the charity stripe.
The Oaks held a 38-32 advantage on the glass, despite trailing in offensive boards 13-10. OCU handed out 18 assists in the game, while commiting an equal number of turnovers, while RBC had just nine assists and 14 turnovers.
Oakland City will play against Ohio Mid-Western College, a team they beat earlier in the season, for the CCIT championship. Game time is set for 8:00 PM CST.
