Oakland City Men Rout Boyce BulldogsApril 13, 2010 at 4:30 PM
Oakland City, IN - OCU hosted the Boyce College Bulldogs Tuesday evening in the Johnson Center, winning easily 89-38. Coach Sandifar started a different lineup than usual, consisting of Jeremiah Mitchell, Noah Rasche, Brandon Hopf, Chris Sandifar and Hunter Elliott.
The Mighty Oaks scored the first seven points of the ballgame, but the Bulldogs fought back to cut the lead to five at 16-11 after ten minutes had elapsed. Oakland City respoded by going on a 15-2 run and went into the locker room with a 14 point advantage at 34-20.
The second half opened with the usual starting lineup of Nate Schumacher, Josh Wilmes, Brandon Hopf, Jared Maners and Josh Maggard. The Bulldogs never really made any sort of run as the Oaks tallied 55 second half points while allowing only Boyce to score only 18. The Oaks were led in scoring by Brandon Hopf with 22 points in only 19 minutes of play. Nate Schumacher scored 14 and added a game high 12 rebounds, all coming in the second half. Josh Wilmes scored 12 and Brett Wilson chipped in 11 rounding out the Oaks in double figures. Alfredo Aquino scored his first points of the season, adding 6 points on 2-3 shooting in eight minutes of action. Leading the way for Boyce College was Jordan Doenges who had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
The Mighty Oaks play again Saturday, December 19, as the take on Ohio University-Chillicothe. The game tips at 3:00 pm.
