Mighty Oaks Take Seventh In a Row With Victory Over Ohio State University-MarionApril 13, 2010 at 4:38 PM
Oakland City, IN - The Mighty Oaks scored 53 while allowing only 17 points in the first half on their way to an easy 96-47 victory over the visiting OSU-Marion Scarlet Wave on Saturday afternoon in the Johnson Center.
Oakland City opened the game by making their first ten jumpers to open up a 26-4 lead midway through the first half. The Scarlet Wave was able to steady the scoring somewhat, but the Oaks finished the half with a 16-3 run to take a 53-17 lead into the locker room.
The second half saw more of the same from the Oaks as they never let up in either their defense or their scoring. Mo Kane, scoring for only the second game this season and seeing over ten minutes of action for the first time, scored a season high 8 points while pulling down 4 rebounds as the Oaks cruised to an easy victory to push their season record to 14-6.
Leading the way for the Oaks were seniors Brandon Hopf and Nate Schumacher with 16 points each followed by Jared Maners, Josh Maggard and Chris Sandifar with 9 points. Schumacher pulled down a game-high 9 rebounds. Josh Maggard dished out a game-high 7 assists followed closely by Jared Maners with 6. OSU-Marion was led in scoring by Brandon Geiger with 18 points. Mark McDuffie added 12 points and Kenny Hosp pulled down a team-high 5 rebounds in a losing effort.
The Oaks play again in the Johnson Center Wednesday, February 3, when they take on the Knoxville College Bulldogs. The game tips at 7:00 pm.
