Lady Oaks Win In Final Game Before ChristmasApril 19, 2010 at 2:27 PM
Oakland City, IN - The Lady Oaks hosted the Ohio University-Chillicothe Hilltoppers in their final game before Christmas Saturday afternoon in the Johnson Center. Oakland City prevailed 95-51 against a team plagued by injuries thus far this season.
The Hilltoppers, dressing only five players due to injuries and illness, got off to a slow start, trailing 10-0 three minutes into the game, but were able to turn it around to some extent, cutting the lead to seven at 25-18 with eleven and a half minutes to play in the half. The Lady Oaks responded by scoring 19 points while allowing only ten the rest of the half to take a twenty-six halftime lead into the locker room.
The second half started with the Lady Oaks pulling away quickly, pushing the lead to 40 with twelve minutes remaining on the clock. The Lady Hilltoppers were able to keep the score relatively even the rest of the way, but the Lady Oaks proved to be too much, prevailing 95-51.
Leading the way for Oakland City was Samantha Stahl, who scored 23 points. Sarah Roth scored twelve points while Kristi McVey and Rachel Moore added ten points each. Moore led the team in rebounding with nine and Berna Miranda dished out a season high ten assists.
The Lady Oaks are scheduled to play next on December 31 against Ferris State in the Johnson Center. The game will tip off at 5:00 pm.
