2009 - OAKLAND CITY – A trio of Oakland City University volleyball athletes had 10 kills in Sunday’s 25-15, 25-13, 25-15 sweep of IU Northwest in the Johnson Center.
In game one, OCU found themselves down a point at 10-9, but 15-6 run ignited by Leigh Ann Kluesner’s kill helped propel the Lady Oaks to victory. To go along with the set changing kill, Kluesner also had a block and service ace.
Again OCU found itself down early in the next set, but five straight points midway through was enough to help with the victory. Alicia Hartley had two kills during the 5-0 run, while Kluesner had her second of five service aces.
A 10-2 run in the final set helped solidify the sweep, as an attack error by IUNW started the Lady Oaks late surge. Kluesner had a pair of kills and service aces in the final set to lead OCU’s offense.
Offensively for the Lady Oaks, Kluesner, Hartley and Glenna Jolliff all had 10 kills, while Allison Eads and Casey Hayne each had 13 assists. OCU also hit .303 for the match, as Hartley came away with a match-high .600 attack percentage.
The next action for OCU will be on Saturday, Nov. 7 at IUNW and Northland Baptist University.
