The Lady Oaks bid a fond farewell to a trio of seniors, as Jane Barclay, Rinesha Soaper and Kayla Sutton played their final home game today, winning against the Pomeroys of St. Mary of the Woods College by the score of 96-71.
Chelsea Jones led Oakland City in scoring, knocking down 8-17 from the floor, including 5-10 from beyond the arc, to score 22 points. Jane Barclay tallied a double-double in her final home game, notching 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Lyndi Tedder came off the bench to score 14 points, while Rinesha Soaper added 13. Kayla Sutton had game highs in assists and blocks, handing out nine helpers and swatting away five shots.
The Pomeroys were led by Brittney Shaner's 20 points, followed by 18 points from Whitney Allen and 16 points from Chelsea Weaver. Shaner also led the team in assists while seven, while Chelsey Barron pulled down 11 missed shot to go with eight points.
For the game, the Lady Oaks shot 36-72 (50.0%) from the field, making 10-25 (40.0%) from beyond the arc, and connected on 14-16 (87.5%) from the foul line. St. Mary of the Woods made 25-58 (43.1%) of their field goal attempts, making 3-13 (23.1%) from deep, and made 18-22 (81.8%) from the charity stripe.
The Lady Oaks were outrebounded 36-35, including a 6-5 deficit on the offensive glass. OCU handed out 28 assists while committing 11 turnovers, while the Pomeroys had 19 assists and 20 turnovers.
Up next for Oakland City is a road trip to face Lindenwood University on February 28. Game time is set for 7:00 PM CST.
