University Housing
Oakland
City University offers several types of housing. There
are four traditional residence halls which house the majority of
underclassmen. In addition, the University provides two-person apartments
and off-campus houses to qualifying students. Our campus life staff
works to ensure a quality, secure environment for students as they
adjust to college life.

Campus Housing Policy
All single freshman, sophomore, and junior liberal arts students,
who are under 21 years of age and who are not commuting from their
parent, immediate families or legal guardian's home must live live
in a university provided housing (residence hall, apartments, houses).
A student may live off-campus if
they:
1. have attained senior standing.
2. are 21 years of age or older.
3. are married.
In most instances, students will
find residence hall housing less expensive than living off-campus
housing. The financial aid packages for most students assume on-campus
housing. However, if the student moves out of the residence hall,
their financial aid package may be affected. In order to receive
institutional aid (as distinguisehd from federal or state aid),
a student must comply with the university's housing policy.
Residence halls will open on the
day proceeding the first day of orientation for the fall semester.
The resident halls are closed during the various holidays and breaks.
Any single recipient of a university-funded
scholarship (athletic, academic, art, music, or any other university-funded
scholarships) who does not live with a parent or legal guardian,
attends the Bedford campus, or does not have any dependants, must
live in the university residence halls. Only fourth or fifth year
senior recipients of a university-funded scholarship may be permitted
to move out of campus residence halls; however, a partial amount
of their scholarship will be deducted. If a single recipient, who
is required by the above guidelines to stay in campus housing and
is a freshman, sophomore, or junior, decides to move out of campus
housing, the student will forfeit the entire scholarship that has
been awarded. Any scholarship recipient who is 24 years of age or
older will be exempt from the above housing guidelines. For further
information concerning university housing, please consult the Director
of University Housing, Lauren Biggs (below).

In addition, Oakland City University
will not knowingly admit to its residence halls or other resident
housing any persons who have been convicted of a felony, or convicted
of a sex offense, or theft, or other crimes against persons or property.
Refund policies on residence hall
rooms are subject to Business Office regulations.
Residence Hall Contract
A student applying to live in a residence hall must sign
a contract each year. Once the student has signed the contract and
paid the deposit, he/she is expected to honor the contract for the
remainder of the contract period.
By signing the housing contract,
the student agrees during the period of occupation to comply with
the rules and regulations of the university and of the Office of
University Housing.
