The FOCUS (Focused on Christ United in Service) mission organization has been involved in the community throughout the year. At the end of last semester they held a fundraiser to raise money to send a water filtration system to India. They set up at Wal-Mart (on Burkhardt) in Evansville at 9 a.m. They sold homemade ice cream and cookies until 4 p.m. that afternoon. Last year’s President, Chris Myers and Vice President Amber Mobley set up this fundraiser. Along with them, several other club members came out that day to help raise money so that places, such as India, can have clean drinking water. They had a sample filtration system to show people what the system looked like and they were able to demonstrate how it worked by a using a solar panel and a small battery. Most customers were extremely responsive and willing to listen to what the club members had to say and what they were raising money for. For just one dollar, they got a scoop of homemade ice cream, a bottle of water, or four cookies. With that dollar they
will help provide clean water for people with poor water supply in other countries. All proceeds collected went toward this water filtration system. Club members who participated in the fundraiser were: Chris Myers, Amber Mobley, Tami Gregor, Erica Gatewood, Raymond McPherson, Jessica White, Amy Peters, and Andy Smith.

FOCUS reaches out to the community by collecting canned food goods for distribution, they visit the nursing home and they have had the chance to be able to pray with people on their outreaches. If you are interested in the FOCUS organization they meet on Mondays at 11 a.m. in the cafeteria. This years President is Amber Mobley and Vice President is David Depoister.
