Responsibility: Process daily deposits, credit card billings and other payments and apply to member accounts.  Assist in the design of direct mail campaigns.  Send billings and renewal notices.  Maintain all member accounts.  Send thank-you letters and other correspondence to members.  Monitor major donor accounts and send thank-you letters.  Process reports on fulfillment and acquisitions monthly.  Organize the Kid’s Club and send birthday cards, packages and other information.   Training provided. Qualifications: Strong data entry, computer, bookkeeping and clerical skills.  Customer service experience and the ability to multi-task a plus.  Mail merging and letter design are required.

Must be available to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends.

SUMMARY: The Technology Coordinator provides leadership and coordinates technology in a way that is consistent with the mission of the church. The Coordinator will work with the volunteers already in place, as well as recruit and train others who will provide technology support for our Sunday worship services, choir rehearsal, praise team rehearsal, and special events.

FOR WHOM WE’RE SEARCHING: You are a self-starter with the ability to grow and train a pool of volunteer servants. You work well with a team, delegate effectively, multi-task easily, and encourage the service of other volunteers. You have basic knowledge of sound boards, lighting, computers, and technical equipment, but you’re willing to receive more training as needed. You’re a patient and effective teacher of those who are still learning the system. You’re willing to troubleshoot but call for additional assistance if needed. You have previous experience in a church setting and respond well to diverse opinions and feedback.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overseeing all aspects of worship technology, including but not limited to the sound board, lighting, computer (current software is Media Shout), and other technical equipment.
  • Recruiting and training (with outside help if need be) additional technology volunteers.
  • Being present on Sundays and Christian holidays to assist with worship services.
  • Being present at choir and praise team rehearsals.
  • Developing a schedule of volunteers and filling in if needed.
  • Communicating with technology volunteers about scheduling and training.
  • Working with the senior pastor and the technology team to coordinate technology needs for worship.
  • Troubleshooting as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

FUNCTION

To serve the child care center by developing and coordinating an effective and comprehensive program. To provide leadership, training, and supervision of child care staff.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

The Child Care Center Director reports to and will be reviewed by the Senior Pastor and the Staff-Parish Relations Committee. This position relates to church and child care staff, as well as the Child Care Center Board of Directors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE:

  • Overseeing all aspects of child care, including daily programs and activities of the
  • preschool, day care, and Summer Fun.
  • Working with the Child Care Center Board of Directors on administrative decisions.
  • Supervising and training teachers and staff. Conducting annual evaluations for teachers
  • and staff.
  • Handling administrative details regarding budgets, teachers’ salaries, tuition, fees, etc.
  • Overseeing curriculum selection and planning.
  • Communicating events and scheduling with parents.
  • Meeting with and orienting parents at least twice a year.
  • Keeping all licensing regulations in order.
  • Maintaining the food program.

General Purpose of Position:

To build young disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to children’s ministry (in the areas of worship, group building, discipleship, mission, prayer, faith and outreach) while serving as a spiritual leader and role model.

Organizational Relationship and Supervision:

Coordinator of Children’s Ministry (CCM) reports to the Senior Pastor for spiritual and ministry guidance. The Senior Pastor, in cooperation with the Staff Parish Relations Committee, provides an annual evaluation of the CCM’s performance. The CCM will be responsible and subject to United Methodist policy and doctrine, local church policy as determined by the Charge Conference, Senior Pastor, and Staff Parish Relations Committee. Attendance at the following meetings is expected: Weekly Staff Meetings, and Children’s Ministry Team.

The Primary Task:

There shall be a comprehensive approach to the development and implementation of the children’s ministry at all levels in the connectional system of the United Methodist Church and in all ministry areas of the local church. This comprehensive approach is based on the understanding of the primary task of children’s ministry to:

                -love children where they are

                -encourage children in developing their relationship to God

                -provide them with opportunities for nurture and growth

                -challenge them to respond to God’s call to serve in their families and world

Responsibilities:

  1. Be an advocate for children and educate the congregation about the hopes, concerns and needs of children in the local church and community.
  2. Plan, develop, and implement all aspects of a balanced children’s ministry.  This includes serving as Sunday School Superintendent (Promotion Sunday/Confirmation), family events, camps, service projects, holiday parties, Easter Egg Hunt, Trunk or Treat, Advent, VBS, Children’s Small Group and Junior Church.   
  3. Support and guide the work of the Children’s Ministry or equivalent body in an annual process of evaluating the vision and goals of the children’s ministry and directing planning sessions.
  4. Mentor children in developing their leadership skills.
  5. Be aware of resources for developing the children’s ministry programming and participate in continuing education events and training opportunities.
  6. Recruit and train volunteers who work with children in all aspects of the ministry and ensure adequate volunteer support and adult to children ratios.
  7. Be a liaison between the church and other community organizations, people, and resources that relate to youth and children’s ministries. Be approachable to parents and members of the congregation
  8. Coordinate Sunday school curriculum for children (Preschool through Grade 6) and recruit teachers in partnership with the Children’s Education Committee.
  9. Work in partnership with the Worship Committee to effectively reach children in the community and develop a strategic children’s ministry outreach plan.
  10. Be organized and manage the children’s ministry budget.
  11. Communicate in a timely manner and as effectively as possible using all available resources (email, website, bulletin, newsletter, bulletin board, etc.). Ensure communication with church staff and leadership, parents, and the congregation as a whole.
  12. Be supportive. Make yourself available to children in a variety of ways (i.e. lunch at school, attendance at extracurricular activities, visitation, times of crisis, special awards at school, etc.)
  13. Work as a team with Centenary staff members and maintain a teamwork mentality.
  14.  Ensure that a Child Protection Policy is observed in all children’s ministry settings.

Qualifications and Aptitudes:

  1. Minimum of associates degree, bachelor’s degree preferred
  2. Must embrace Christian discipline and faith.
  3. Experience in children’s ministry, working with and loving children.
  4. Must have vision and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, delegate, encourage, manage and implement a children’s ministry within the parameters of the United Methodist Church.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Exhibit a commitment to the mission of Community United Methodist Church: “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world” and take seriously the responsibility for the health and safety of the children and youth and their spiritual development.
  • Provide pastoral care and age-appropriate ministries through Christian education and fellowship activities—observing a theology consistent with our Wesleyan and United Methodist beliefs.
  • Oversee Sunday School classes for children and youth by making sure there are teachers for each class and assist in providing resources and training.
  • Develop a program of regular youth fellowship activities for the purpose of outreach, nurture in the faith, worship and devotional practice, relationship-building and servant ministry.
  • Attend monthly Children’s Ministry Council and Youth Ministry Council meetings. These councils are intended to be a support for the Youth Director and will offer leadership and assistance for the ministry.
  • Develop ministry leaders from within the families being served and the larger congregation to assist in ministry; Recruit volunteers for youth and children’s ministries and equip them with materials and training for effective ministry.
  • Create awareness for all youth and children’s events through the monthly newsletter, the weekly worship bulletin, and other modes of publicity.
  • Be involved in worship as requested by the Senior Pastor and help to incorporate the youth and children in the worship life of the congregation and its ministries.
  • Interact with the local schools to connect youth to Christ.
  • Plan and oversee mission opportunities for the youth and coordinate any necessary fundraising events associated with those ministries.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Obtain appropriate paperwork/permission slips as needed.
  • Examples of some current areas of Children’s Ministry: Sunday morning Prayer and Praise Time (during sermon), Wednesday Night Pioneer Club (October through April), Annual Sugar Plum Ball, Summer Vacation Bible School, Children’s Sunday School.
  • Ministry with Middle School and High School Youth is relatively undeveloped but would include regular fellowship, mission and service activities for both age groups, Sunday School classes and Confirmation Class.
  • Plan an annual budget for all areas of responsibility to submit to the Finance Committee and provide financial supervision for these areas of ministry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Have a positive attitude and be an encourager to parents and youth.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of scripture and the faith development process.
  • Understand “tween”, “teen” and childhood development.
  • Computer literate with a knowledge of Internet and Microsoft office preferred.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION

The Minister of Worship is responsible to the Senior Pastor for the development, promotion, and administration of the worship programs of the church.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

                A.  This person will need skills in leading worship, music and drama, administration, and pastoral care.

                B.  This person will need to have a firm commitment to the Lord, a deep devotional life, and the ability to share that faith with others.

                C.  This person will need both a good working knowledge of sacred music and the ability to direct others.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

                A.  Administer the organization, enlargement, and improvement of church music and worship groups in our church.

                       1.  Be responsible for congregational singing and music at all regular services

                            of the church.  The music will be planned with the pastor, and where

                            differences of opinion exist, the pastor’s wishes shall prevail.

                       2.  Oversee a graded choir program.

                       3.  Enlist and train music leadership wherever needed.

                       4.  Direct the adult choir, praise team, orchestra and the sound ministry.

                       5.  Provide special music for church events when requested.

                       6.  Direct the drama ministry of the church.  This would include supervision,

                        recruitment, development, and publicity of drama activities, both as they are

                        incorporated into worship services and as special/seasonal programs.  

                B.  Perform related administrative and general functions as appropriate.

                       1.  Assist the pastor in such areas of service as requested.

                       2.  Supervise the maintenance of musical instruments, materials, and audio/visual, and

            sound equipment.

                   3.  Provide direct supervision of the church musicians.

                   4.  Attend and participate in staff meetings.

                   5.  As an ex-officio member, attend meetings of the Music Committee.

                   6.  In conjunction with the Music Committee, participate in the annual budget process.

                   7.  Serve in denominational work as time permits.

We are looking for a youth director who will work with the leadership of Old Union to advance the Kingdom of God here in our community. The leadership at OUCC feels that a motivated individual who will DELEGATE youth mentoring and event responsibilities for the overall most efficient outcome, can help accomplish our goal of making Old Union the most significant thing for Christ in our community—specifically for our youth. The following serves as a description of what these responsibilities might look like:• Be willing to teach and/or delegate current members to teach a Sunday morning Bible study.• Host 1 weekly middle/high school service/fellowship time (after a program is successfully established)• Host/delegate 4 youth outings a month, with the help of the members of Old Union. (One outing a month for preschool, elementary, middle, and high school.)• Plan, organize, and execute 2 youth-led worship services a year.• Utilize social media tools effectively (as well as appropriately maintain your own credibility and reputation in the social media world).
