|Notes:||My relationship with Oakland City University began in the fall of 1991. I transferred here from John A Logan Community College where I received an Associates in Arts degree. It was at JALC that I played basketball for both years earning Academic All American status. I graduated Oakland City College with a Bachelor's in Science degree in the spring of 1994. In the spring of 1998, I graduated with a Master of Science in Management degree from Oakland City University.
While on campus from 1991-1998, I played (91-93) and coached (93-98) our women's basketball team. My senior year, we finished 2nd in the nation. Those are some of the best memories I have of playing college basketball! I love those girls! From 1993 through 1998, I served in several roles on campus. I lived in Brokaw Hall as a Resident Assistant and eventually as the Resident Director. I was the athletic administrative assistant, the women's golf coach and I was also the assistant women's basketball coach!
In the fall of 98, I started a new adventure. Head Women's Basketball Coach at Olney Central College, a community college located in Olney, Illinois. I loved being the head coach at Olney Central College in Olney, Illinois. But, as rewarding as that was, the job kept from me being in the classroom. I love teaching!
The fall of 2006 brought a new opportunity, a chance to coach and TEACH at my Alma Mater. Most students here see me as Mrs. Mehringer, the business instructor.
I teach in the Oakland City University School of Business. Classes that I teach are Principles of Management, Principles of Marketing, Business Communications, Business Internship, and I also have taught Business Technology for Adult and Extended Learning.
There are a few things that I am really passionate about. I am passionate about growing in Christ. My workplace allows me to interact with others in such a way that fosters spiritual growth. I am passionate about being a wife and a mother. My husband Kurt is an outstanding, supportive, loving and kind man. My children Tysen (8) and Libby (6) are two amazing gifts from God. I am passionate about basketball and I feel so blessed to get the opportunity to have an impact on young people through sport. I am
passionate about teaching. I love to be in the classroom. I love teaching at Oakland City University, it allows me to combine my passion of teaching with my passion for spiritual growth. I consider myself lucky to get to do all of them on a daily basis. Blessed, that is my answer when people ask me
how I am.... by God's grace. I. Am. Blessed.
I am in my sixth school year at OCU. Our basketball team has seen a transformation of sorts in who we are and how we do things. We are successful both on and off the court. I am extremely proud of my girls and our program.
The OCU School of Business is growing. We have quality, knowledgeable instructors whose sole purpose is to help and teach you. Our philosophy campus wide is student centered. We are here for the student! I am so proud of our staff in who they are, what they do for students, and the level of commitment to a top notch education for our students. In the school of business, we want the student fully prepared to enter the workplace upon graduation.
My husband and I are members at Precious Blood Parish in Jasper, IN. Our children attend school at Precious Blood School. We are both active in the Christ Renews His Parish retreats for men and women. Kurt ushers, and I volunteer as one of the Children's Church instructors as well as selling
SCRIP before and after masses. Kurt owns and operates Impressions Printing, Inc. in Jasper, Indiana.
Other hobbies that I have outside of work and family are slow pitch softball and working out. Oh, and I LOVE to bake!
