Oaks Ink First for 2004

The Lady Oaks have signed their first recruit for the '04 season. Nikki Silverthorn of Henderson County, KY, signed her National Letter of Intent in a ceremony at Henderson County High School on friday afternoon.

Silverthorn, the All-Western Kentucky pick, is expected to see minutes immediately at outside back.

"Nikki has established herself as a tenacious defender with a strong Henderson County team" Stated Coach Botterill, " I expect her to compete for a starting place on the outside of the defense from our first game."

As a 4.0 student, Silverthorn also high-lights the Oakland City University soccer program's commitment to recruiting true, quality student-athletes. "Nikki is a very talented student who will make a big contribution to this campus, I am sure that she will excel in her Biology degree, and will continue Oakland City's reputation for academic achievement." Continued Botterill.

The Lady Oaks are expected to unveil their next signing imminently, and are looking to bring in 8-10 new players in total.
