Head Coach Pedro Blanco

Oakland City University Athletic Director Mike Sandifar has announced the hiring of Pedro Blanco as the new head coach of the women's soccer team at OCU. Blanco, a native of Bogota, Columbia who comes to OCU from LeTourneau University in Longview, TX, where he coached men's and women's tennis and women's soccer is also a former member of the men's soccer coaching staff at Brescia University in Owensboro, KY.

The new coach, who expects to teach two Spanish classes and a physical education class in team and individual sports the fall semester is looking forward to his new position. "I'm excited to be here. I'm ready to get rolling and start recruiting. Kevin Botterill (former women's coach) has left big shoes to fill, but I'm excited enough about being here that I'll probably stay here forever."

Blanco earned his two Bachelor's degrees from Brescia in biology and chemistry, and finished his Master's in kinesiology at Western Kentucky University.
