OCU Women's Soccer Coach Bruce Nichols is pleased to announce the signing of Boonville, Indiana standout Ciara Leslie. During her prep career, she earned MVP, Offensive MVP, Most Goals Scored, Mental Attitude and Co-Captain awards during her high school career. Leslie will be studying secondary education specializing in mathematics while at OCU.
Nichols to Lead OCU Women Gerald Nichols has been named Head Women's Soccer Coach at Oakland City University. Nichols comes to OCU from Lake Wales, Florida, where he was the coach at Lake Wales High School. During his tenure at Lake Wales, his team turned a -30 goal differential into a +16 advantage, as well as advanced to the District Finals two years in a row. Prior to his stint at Lake Wales, Coach Nichols was Assistant coach at Warner University from the 2006 season and at Webber International for the 2005 season. Nichols played college ball at Florida Southern College, graduating in 1982. He then played semi-pro ball in Tampa, Florida. Nichols holds a NSCAA "Premier" license in Coaching as well as, a Goalkeeping certification from the same body. He also holds a "C" license from the USSF. Coach Nichols says, "I found the spiritual emphasis at Oakland City University to particularly attractive. I also like the idea of the opportunity to coach in NCAA Division II, I see tremendous upside potential for this program." Nichols is married to Cheryl. They have two children Ryan (23) and Suzie (21).
LADY OAKS TAKE DOWN ST. CATHARINE 2-0 OCU's Women's Soccer team came through with a solid victory over visiting St. Catharine 2-0 Thursday afternoon. Scoring on a corner kick from Amanda "Shorty" Ford was Rachel Oakley and providing the other goal was Jamie Pinkston on a penalty. The Lady Oaks improved their record to 3-7-1 on the season.

Lady Oaks Run Into Bearcat Juggernaut OCU's women were overwhelmed by a very talented Southwest Baptist squad at Aigner Field on Thursday afternoon. The visitors outscored the Lady Oaks 11-0 and outshot them 26-0. Coach Christian Serino had this to say, "They wore us down physically. We are small in numbers, but big in heart and talent. It's not how you start, but how you finish that is most important. A sign I have in my office reads "What Lies Behind Us and What Lies Before Us is Nothing Compared to What Lies Within Us"." OCU travels to USI for a September 7th match. Kick-off is at 4pm. 2008 schedule released 2008 Women's soccer to open at home against Southwest Baptist University and also play Division I Indiana State later in the year.
