Oaks Overrun Lincoln Christian

Oakland City 7-0 Lincoln Christian College

Six first half goals including a 22 minute hat trick from Danielle Hinton (Jeffersonville, IN) propelled the Lady Oaks to a comfortable victory over Lincoln Christian College

The Lady Oaks looked dominant from the kick-off of this contest having been denied two or three times already before taking the lead after 5 minutes. Oakland City pressure saw Lincoln defenders concede a corner on the left side and a typical inswinging near post service from Danielle Hinton was guided home by Terri McCormick (Mt. Vernon, IN).

The Oakland City forwards maintained the pressure and when Chrissy Longest (New Albany, IN) dispossessed a Lincoln defender five minutes later, she turned and lobbed the goalkeeper from just outside the area.

Hinton turned from provider to scorer just a minute later as she intercepted a pass and broke through three tackles before placing the ball past the goalkeeper. She scored again minutes later when Emily Gries picked out her run and completed her hat-trick on 22 minutes scoring directly from a corner.

Oakland City tallied for the last time in the first half with 13 minutes remaining. Kayla Sellers (Morganfield, KY) won possesion and fed Amanda Allen (Browns, IL) who in turn released the breaking Gries who made no mistake steering the ball past the keeper.

The second half saw a much changed line up for the Lady Oaks but a similar story in terms of possesion and teritorial advantage. The shots continued to rain down on the Lincoln Christian goal, but only Brooke Berg (Ferdinand, IN) managed to find the target, with a strong run and finish after being released by Lindsey Holt (Shoals, IN)

"This was a comfortable game for us today but I was pleased with the intensity we started with." noted Coach Botterill, "We finished well and early that gave us the opportunity to give some attacking experience to some of our players who don't normally play there."
