Brick Briscoe has joined the staff of the Oakland
City Athletic Department as Sports Information Director, as well as,
Men's and Women's golf coach for the 2007-08 seasons. Brick, a native
Petersburg and Pike County resident with long stints in New York City
and Los Angeles, has welcomed the challenge as something he has always
wanted to do.
"Both my career and family have prepared me to
work in this type of environment,” Briscoe stated. The former
Director of Marketing at WTVW in Evansville and son of noted area
educator and coach Howard Briscoe sees OCU as a “wonderful place
with exceptional people.” He adds, “I find it really exciting
to work with not only the staff but with the student athletes. Their
energy is invigorating. It will be fun to help tell their and the
University’s story.”
A 1985 graduate of Southern Illinois University in
Carbondale with a degree in Film, Brick has directed and produced
several feature films and documentaries related to sports and other
subjects. His most well known project locally is “Last Chance
at the Big Dance.” This documentary followed the Pike Central
High School Boys Basketball Team through Indiana’s last single
class basketball championship. He is currently completing “Blood,
Sweat and Trust,” a documentary for USA Volleyball about the
Junior Olympic movement.
Briscoe and wife Marta reside in Petersburg, Indiana.
His daughter Emma is in her first year at St. Michael's College in
Colchester, Vermont where she is on the volleyball team.
