Brick Briscoe , SID

Brick Briscoe has joined the staff of the Oakland City Athletic Department as Sports Information Director, as well as, Men's and Women's golf coach for the 2007-08 seasons. Brick, a native Petersburg and Pike County resident with long stints in New York City and Los Angeles, has welcomed the challenge as something he has always wanted to do.

"Both my career and family have prepared me to work in this type of environment,” Briscoe stated. The former Director of Marketing at WTVW in Evansville and son of noted area educator and coach Howard Briscoe sees OCU as a “wonderful place with exceptional people.” He adds, “I find it really exciting to work with not only the staff but with the student athletes. Their energy is invigorating. It will be fun to help tell their and the University’s story.”

A 1985 graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with a degree in Film, Brick has directed and produced several feature films and documentaries related to sports and other subjects. His most well known project locally is “Last Chance at the Big Dance.” This documentary followed the Pike Central High School Boys Basketball Team through Indiana’s last single class basketball championship. He is currently completing “Blood, Sweat and Trust,” a documentary for USA Volleyball about the Junior Olympic movement.

Briscoe and wife Marta reside in Petersburg, Indiana. His daughter Emma is in her first year at St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont where she is on the volleyball team.
