Transfer Duo Complete Class

The 2006 recruiting class is complete with the news that Ronald Stanislaus and Craig Barclay have both committed to join the Mighty Oaks in 2006. This increases the number of commitments to 17 for the fall season. Stanislaus will transfer from Herkimer Community college and have 2 seasons of eligibility remaining, Barclay transfers from Telford College in Scotland and has three years left.

Stanislaus (Trinidad and Tobago) played both sweeper and outside back for the Herkimer Generalsas a two-year starter, and captained the team to the Junior College National Championship as a Sophomore. Prior to his collegiate career, Stanislaus was the 2003 MVP at GW Wingate High School. "Ronald brings us something that cannot be taught, he has the experience of leading his team to a National Championship." Stated Coach Botterill, "Above all of the physical and technical strengths that he brings the team, I hope that his mental strength helps this team learn how to win those close games." Stanislaus is expected to play as either a center back or outside back.

Barclay (Musselburgh, Scotland) is also expected to provide experience in what will be a very youthful Mighty Oak team in '07. He is an outside back or midfielder who has experience playing with the youth setup of Alloa Athletic and is expected to compete immediately for a starting place. "Craig will be another valuable experienced head within this young team." Botterill said, "He is a tough no-nonsense defender who is also very comfortable on the ball. We expect him to be equally at home winning the ball back, and starting the attacks."

Botterill had this to say about his 2006 recruiting class, "I am very pleased with what is my first full recruiting class for the Mighty Oaks. We set out to improve both the starting 11 and also to make the team much deeper. I feel that we have achieved both of those goals. We have a number of new players who are more than capable of starting for us immediately and I believe that we have real competition at every position. We will be young but if we gel quickly and learn our roles we should be set for a very exciting season."
