Oaks Add Three More

The Mighty Oaks announced the capture of three more players today. Andrew Johnson (Minnetonka, MN) Brandon Stranz (Roseville, Canada) and Gaius Snyder (Jeffersonville, IN) have both committed to play for the Mighty Oaks in 2006, bringing the total to six.

Johnson, was a 2-year starter for Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minnesota, competing in the tough Classic Lake conference. Andrew scored 2 goals and 9 assists in a senior year during which he demonstrated his versatility playing a number of different positions, playing a key role in the defeat of the #3 ranked Minnetonka HS. He also plays on the well-known St Paul Blackhawks club team. "Andrew has a versatility which has been a sign of the players that we have recruited this year. He has a cultured left foot which makes him an excellent attacking left midfield player, but at both club and High School level he has been used as a man-marker when an opposition player required special attention. This ability to attack and defend well will see him make an easy transtion to college soccer." Noted Coach Botterill

Stranz is a member of the Bryst International soccer academy in Toronto, Canada, with whom he took part in a tournament in Germany, and the Toronto Junior Lynx. He was also the MVP and captain for his High School, Southwood S.S. "Brandon does for our right hand side, what Andrew does for the left. Playing on one of the premier teams in Canada, Brandon is a hard-working and gifted right midfielder or right back, he has good vision, is talented on the ball and posses a fearsome shot." Commented Botterill.

Snyder was a two year letter winner (started as a sophomore) at Jeffersonville High School before transferring to Restoration Christian HS where he started his junior and senior years. Gaius finished as top scorer with 16 goals and 11 assists as a senior. He is also a member of the Mockingbird Valley Soccer club in Louisvlle, KY. Botterill had this to say about Snyder, "Gaius has all the intangibles that go into making a great soccer player. As a forward, his movement off the ball is exemplary for a high school player, he makes great decisions and has excellent vision. As long as he handles the transition to college soccer he will do very well for us."
