Oaks Sign Three on Opening Day

The Men's Soccer team announced their first three signees today. Dan Armstrong, Brandon Gengelbach, and Adam Richardville, have all committed to play for the Mighty Oaks in 2006.

Armstrong (Evansville, IN) was a 2-time captain, and 4-year starter at Mater Dei High School, where he recieved all-city, all-conference and all-district awards as a junior and as a senior, as well as all-state as a senior. Mater Dei were sectional champs each of Armstrong's four years. "Dan is a versatile player, but will probably figure for us as an outside back or midfielder. He has phenomenal quickness, is strong on the ball and is a talented defender. We expect him to make an immediate contribution" Commented Coach Botterill

Gengelbach (Evanston, IN) captained Heritage Hills as a senior and also led the team in goals, assists and points. He is a gifted student, who is a member of the national honor society. Botterill had this to say about Gengelabch, "Brandon has good size and speed so should have no trouble adapting to the physical aspects of the college game. He is solid on the ball and hard-working which should make him a very valuable member of our freshman class."

Richardville (Vincennes, IN) is another versatile player leading his Vincennes Lincoln High School in goals as a senior (20) and assists as a junior (16). He was named all-area and team offensive MVP as a junior and all-area, all-district and team MVP as a senior. Richardville plays for the SWISA club team. Coach Botterill noted, "Adam has always been a talented player, with a good shot and great set-piece ability. This year his speed improved greatly which I think will make him a really dangerous player on the college level."

There are more to come, though, as the Oaks look to improve on their record-setting 2005 campaign. "We are looking to bring 10-12 recruits this year to give us the depth that we didn't have last season." Added Coach Botterill "Another 3 should be revealed in the next week, with more following as the spring progresses."
