Soccer Day
The Soccer teams at OCU teamed up to host a youth soccer
day on Saturday. Sponsored by HLS, the event attracted over 130 local
youngsters from age 5-14.
The Mighty Oak players and coaching staff coached the
young players in a variety of drills designed to improve technical skills
before feeding them lunch. The players then got to watch their coaches
perform as the men's soccer team scrimmaged.
Promotions Director at OCU, had this to say about the
event, "I was very pleased with the hard work and dedication put forth
by each of the members of the Soccer Teams. It seemed that all in attendance
had a very enjoyable experience, and even a little rain couldn't put
a damper on the fun."
Men's Soccer Coach, Kevin Botterill, was also pleased
with the event, "It was great to see the players working and having
fun with so many youngsters from the community. In these times when
it seems that athletes are always in the news for the wrong reasons
I was very happy for us to be able to give something back to the community."
