Coaching Staff

Head Coach T-Ray Fletcher

The 2010 season will mark Coach T-Ray Fletcher's 16th season at the helm of the Mighty Oaks. During his tenure at OCU he has compiled a 287 victories, making Coach Fletcher the winningest baseball coach in Oakland City University history.

During the previous fifteen season's, Coach Fletcher has led the Mighty Oaks to nine NCCAA National Tournament appearances (1996, 4th place, 1997 8th, 1999 5th, 2000 5th, 2001 5th, 2002 4th, 2004 6th, and 2005 2nd, 2008 8th). The 1996 appearance marked the first in OCU history. The Oaks have also captured eight Mid-east Regional Championships (1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, and 2008.)

The 2005 team finished second in the ten team NCCAA National Tournament, the highest finish in OCU baseball history. They also became the first #9 seed to accomplish such a feat.

His 2004 squad set a single season school record for wins with 27 and he was named Mid-East Coach of the Year. Under Coach Fletcher, there have been twenty-two OCU baseball players named Academic All-American, two named 1st team NCAA Division II North Central Region team, eight named 2nd team NCAA Division II North Central Region, six named NCCAA All-American, and eleven NCCAA Honorable Mention All-American. In sixteen seasons, Coach Fletcher has earned NCCAA Mid-east Region "Coach of the Year" honors eight times, (1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, and 2008). He was also awarded the American Baseball Coaches Association/Louisville Slugger Coaches Award in 1996, 1997, 2002, 2004, and 2005.

A graduate of OCU with a B.S. in Accounting (1995) and a Master's in Management (1997), Coach Fletcher was a four year member of the OCU squad. A native of Madisonville, KY he graduated from Madisonville North Hopkins High School. Coach Fletcher has worked many camps throughout the mid-west and is a student of the game.

Along with his coaching responsibilities, he is also the school's Assistant Athletic Director and instructs computer and business classes.

ASSISTANT COACH Scott Chisholm (2nd Season)

The 2010 season will mark Scott Chisholm’s 2nd season with the Mighty Oak baseball team.  Coach Chisholm, a Pittsburgh native and Duquesne graduate, joins the Mighty Oaks staff as an assistant coach, responsible for the pitching staff andconditioning. He will also assist Coach Fletcher in recruitment of future Mighty Oaks.

In 2006, he completed his four-year career pitching at Duquesne University. Chisholm appeared in 48 games for the Dukes, starting 33 during his career, earning twelve victories on the mound. Chisholm was second on the Dukes in strikeouts in both his sophomore and junior campaigns and led Duquesne in strikeouts in 2006, averaging 57 whiffs over his last three seasons. Chisholm logged the second most innings for Duquesne in 2004 and 2005 and led the staff with 80 innings his senior season.  His post-season victory over Fordham in 2005 was the first postseason win in Duquesne history.

After graduation, Coach Chisholm inherited the Seton Hill pitching staff that ranked third in the AMC in ERA and first in innings pitched and strikeouts in 2006.  In his two seasons as pitching coach at Division II Seton Hill, he led a young staff to some of the best numbers in school history.  Under his direction, the Griffins posted school bests in strikeouts, fewest walks allowed, ERA, and opponents’ batting average between 2007-2008.  In 2008, four Griffin pitchers were awarded with WVIAC pitcher of the week honors.  Chisholm also played a key role in the recruiting, compliance, & strength and conditioning of the baseball program.  He earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management in July 2008.

In the upcoming 2010 summer, Chisholm has been named the head coach of the Alexandria Beetles.  His responsibilities will include assembling a roster of 26 of the premiere college baseball players from across the country.  Coach Chisholm spent the summer of 2009 as assistant coach of the Alexandria Beetles in the Northwoods League.  The Northwoods League plays more games than, draws more fans than, and plays in venues superior to any Summer Collegiate Baseball League in North America. The Northwoods League recently completed its 16th season of play. 

In addition to his baseball obligations, Chisholm serves as an instructor and advisor in the business department.  His coursework includes Business Statistics, Business Finance, Strategic Management, and International Business.
