School of Adult and Extended Learning

Associate Degrees

The School of Adult and Extended Learning offers an Associate of Science in Business Administration and an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice

The Associate of Science in Business Administration (ASBA) or Criminal Justice (AACJ) is designed for adults, who because of choice or necessity, entered the workforce after high school and have found no practical way of continuing their education.

Students enrolled in the ACBA or AACJ program will find it possible to complete their degree by attending classes two nights a week; thus earning 64 hours of college credit and an Associate of Science in Business Administration or Criminal Justice in as little as 16 months.

Adult learning theories are employed to make classes stimulating and pertinent to an adult student. Evaluation is based upon student performance, thus minimizing the traditional reliance on recall and written examinations. Student performance is evaluated by summary papers, small group participation, class discussions, projects, and written exercises.

These programs may be completed at Wilder Center, Evansville Center, Bedford Center , the Indianapolis Center, or Rockport Center. However, you must be admitted to the campus you attend. You will need to print out an admissions application and send it to campus you wish to attend along with the application fee.

To be accepted into the program, the student must meet the following requirements:

1. Graduated from high school with at least a 2.0 GPA or successfully passed the GED with a score of 50

2 . Completed the Oakland City University application and sent it in along with the $35 application fee

NOTE: 32 Credit Hours may be transferred from another college toward an associate degree. The AACJ is awarded upon completing 64 credit hours which include the General Education and AACJ core classes. Up to 32 hours of transfer credit may be accepted toward degree completion. This degree may be completed in four semesters; two classes per week.
