University Scholarships

Oakland City University is committed to working with students and their families to ensure that private Christian education is affordable.

Each year, Oakland City University students receive millions of dollars in financial assistance.  We are committed to working with you to find a financial solution that allows you to meet your educational goals.

  • University scholarships are awarded only to traditional undergraduate students at the Oakland City University main campus.
  • All scholarships are awarded pending the receipt of the student’s final high school transcripts and/or college transcripts and standardized test scores by the Office of Admissions. Students must also complete a current FAFSA to be eligible to receive University funds.

Based on your situation, you may qualify for merit based, endowed, or athletic scholarships. 

 
 
 
 
 

Merit Based Scholarship

All students meeting the entrance eligibility requirements set forth by the University qualify for merit based aid.  These awards are based on a combination of your high school GPA and standardized test scores.  GPA is based on the student’s final high school transcript on a 4.0 scale.  All merit based scholarships are renewable for 120 credit hours, provided that the student maintains the required 2.5 cumulative GPA.   For more information regarding scholarships please call the OCU Office of Admissions at: (800-737-5125).

Athletic Scholarship

Oakland City University is a NCAA Division II school.  We currently offer 13 unique athletic opportunities for which athletic aid is available.   Athletic aid is offered to those student athletes selected by the respective coach as eligible for collegiate participation.  If you have a desire to participate as a student athlete at Oakland City University, please contact the appropriate athletic coach to schedule a conference or contact the Admissions Office for further information.

General Baptist Scholarship

The General Baptist Scholarship is available to freshman or transfer students who are enrolled in main campus courses, full time. To be eligible, the student or the student's parents or the spouse of the student must be a member of a General Baptist church. This scholarship is renewable as long as the student remains academically eligible.

Military Scholarship

Oakland City University is proud to honor our currently enlisted service men and women and their dependents by offering military scholarships in several programs. Please contact the Business Office for additional information and qualifications at (800) 737-5125 or (812) 749-1240.

Endowment Scholarship

To receive consideration Oakland City University’s Endowment Scholarships please print and complete the application. Paper applications are also available in the Financial Aid Office. Please return to the Financial Aid Office by April 1st for priority consideration.

Alumni Scholarship

To apply for the Oakland City University Alumni Scholarship please print and complete the application. Paper applications are also available in the Financial Aid Office. The deadline for the Alumni Scholarship is April 1st.

Multicultural Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually with an initial award of $500.00 as part of Oakland City University’s efforts to create a multicultural and diverse student body. This scholarship is only available to full time, degree seeking, freshman, and transfer students who will reside on campus. Current enrolled OCU students are not eligible to apply. This scholarship is offered to students selected by the University’s Scholarship Committee and is renewable contingent upon academic renewal requirements. Students from historically under-represented populations are encouraged to apply.

Diversity in Education Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually with an initial award of $500.00 as part of Oakland City University’s efforts to create a multicultural and diverse student body. This scholarship is only available to full time, degree seeking, freshman, and transfer students who will reside on campus. Current enrolled OCU students are not eligible to apply. This scholarship is offered to students selected by the University’s Scholarship Committee and is renewable contingent upon academic renewal requirements. Students from historically under represented populations and education majors are encouraged to apply.

Worship Arts Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually with an initial award of $500.00 as part of Oakland City University’s efforts to enhance the music and visual media technology areas of study.  This scholarship is only available to full-time, degree-seeking, freshmen, and transfer students who will reside on campus.  Currently enrolled OCU students are not eligible to apply. This scholarship is offered to students selected by the University’s Scholarship Committee and is renewable contingent upon academic requirements.

Indiana Women’s Education Foundation

The scholarship awards, to be announced at the INFBPW state convention on April 16, 2016, will be paid directly to the educational institution selected by each recipient.

Scholarship recipients must agree to allow the Foundation to publicize information about their scholarship award, including their photo in the Hoosier Business Woman magazine and on the website.  They must also agree to briefly address the INFBPW members at the state convention or fall conference, if requested.

Application forms for the scholarships are available on the website at http://www.inwomeneducation.org/index.php/scholarships, or from the IWEF office (address above).  Completed applications must be submitted to the Indiana Women's Education Foundation office and postmarked no later than February 15, 2016.  Incomplete applications will be declined.  A transcript will be necessary for a complete application.

Indiana CPA Society

Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI) will award on behalf of the Indiana CPA Educational Foundation, Inc., three $1,000 scholarships to students who qualify, per the criteria listed below and are selected by an awards committee.  Award payments—to be applied to tuition accounts—will be made by June 2014 to the winning students’ colleges and universities.

lndiana Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration

The lndiana Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration provides a memorial scholarship honoring Mr. Guy, a member who made significant contributions to the development and growth of the lndiana Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ISHH RA). The scholarship provides financial assistance to further the education and training of students in the field of human resources management.

Indiana Wildlife Federation

One scholarship will be awarded in the amount of$1000, $500 per semester. Application deadline is June 15, 2016. The award recipient will be notified by June 30,2016. The recipient is invited to attend the Conservation Awards Banquet and Annual Meeting to be recogaized as the scholarship recipient.

Elkhart County Retired Teachers Association

The Elkhart County Retired Teachers Association is offering a scholarship to an education major. The etigibte candidate must be a resident of Elkhart County and have successfully completed the sophomore or junior year college.

Belltown Spine & Wellness

Account Control Technology Foundation

The Account Control Technology Foundation is offering 25 $1000 Scholarships for college students who are beginning ther sophomore year in the Fall of 2016. The application deadline is March 15, 2016.
