Patti Buchta has been a member of the Oakland City University Department of Athletics since 1989.

Buchta has been leading the volleyball program at OCU for more than 15 seasons: from 1989-2000; and from 2010-present; tallying more wins than any coach in program history. In 1997, she lead the team to a Mid-Eastern regional championship. Buchta's volleyball teams have since gone to the NCCAA National Tourney three years in a row. They won the Midwest Regional back to back in 2012 and 2013, and were an at-large team in 2014.

Buchta has been the Head Softball Coach since 1992, where she has lead softball teams to the NCCAA National Tournament 8 times. They were NCCAA Mid-East Champions in 1997, 2006, and 2010. The 1997 team was runner up. 

In 2008, Buchta was elected to the Oakland City University Athletic Hall of Fame.

Other athletic and coaching positions held include: Assistant Men's Basketball Coach since 2003, Senior Women's Athletic Administrator since 1999, NCAA Clearinghouse Coordinator, and Director of Transportation since 1999. She was also the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach from 1999-2001, and Head Women's Golf Coach from 2000-2004.

Patti is a graduate of Pike Central High School ('78), graduated for Oakland City University ('82) with a BS in Physical Education and History, and holds a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Evansville ('87).
