Exit Counseling
Student loan borrowers must complete exit counseling before they graduate or leave school. Exit counseling will help you understand your rights and responsibilities as a borrower. You will receive an exit packet which explains the type(s) of loans you borrowed, information about repayment, and what you must do to complete exit counseling. You will also be notified by your loan provider(s) of the date loan repayment begins. (usually six months after you graduate, leave school or drop below half-time enrollment.)
For Direct Loan Borrowers:
Prior to graduating or leaving college, borrowers are required to complete an exit counseling session. This online exit counseling session has been created to make sure that you understand your rights and responsibilities as a Direct Loan borrower. This online exit counseling session will take about 30-40 minutes to complete.
To complete the session you will need your PIN number.
Please note that transcripts will be held until we have received confirmation of your completed session from the Department of Education.
For FFELP Loan Borrowers:
For students who have loans from a bank, credit union, or other lending institutions. These loans were processed through the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP).
If you are graduating or leaving college, you are required to complete exit counseling. Print and complete the FFELP Exit Interview Form. This form must be completed in full and submitted to the Financial Aid Office.
Please note that transcripts will be held until we have received your FFELP Exit Interview Form.
Students who have taken out BOTH Direct Loans and FFELP Loans must complete BOTH the online Direct Loan Exit Counseling Session and FFELP Exit Interview Form.
